Thoth, often nicknamed the Nomad Continent, is a continent located on the northern hemisphere on Atlas. Unlike any other landmass, the mainland and its follower islands circle the waters of Atlas in a constant-latitude journey that takes 1,500 years for each lap. As a result, many of the continent's biomes are in a state of continuous flux, as shifting longitudes and ocean currents keep climates unpredictable in the long term. The first inhabitants of Thoth were the Bae Noongeor peoples, descended from Yaghan inhabitants of South America who came through Sentinels' Gate approximately 8,000 years ago. The Bae Noongeor would occupy much of the continent by the arrival of the Foshayti peoples around 150 BCE, who descended from Carthaginian explorers. The third ethnic group of Thoth, the Norgri, arrived around 1100 CE, descending from a Norse expedition to Vinland that ended up transported to Atlas through the Bermuda Triangle vile vortex. Thoth was the first landmass of Atlas discovered by modern explorers after the Magellan expedition of 1522, and as such the first to get colonized. By 1830, both native societies and Earth colonies occupied the territory of the Nomad Continent. Of these two, the most important were the Makamazuh Empire, founded around 1400 as a Foshayti empire, and Mundaberria, an imperialist basque nation who built a colonial empire on the most undesireable lands of Atlas.
